Over the past weekend we went to the Good Food & Wine Show in Johannesburg and I was wearing my “let the tasting begin” face. We browsed through all the exhibitors and although you could clearly see all the love that went into all the products and the quality, nothing really jumped out at me. It could not be said for man-person as his hands soon became too small to carry all his purchases.
On our way back to the car, I had a quick walk through again because I had this eerie feeling that I did not lay my eyes upon all the exhibitors and boy am I glad I did.
All of a sudden there it was in the distance, something I have had on my “need to source” list for some time now. Oh the world went by in to slow motion, and I am pretty sure that “You’re My Best Friend by Queen” started playing in the background and the path to this fabulous product started to glow.
What is this amazing product I hear you ask?
I’m talking about liquid smoke.
For those of you, like myself, who doesn’t have a smoker in your backyard, this is your solution. Even with a smoker I feel this is an even better route. You can literally get that smoky flavor into anything without compromising on the juiciness of the meat etc.
They have different tastes to choose from with different intensities. And if you are a little nervous they also have recipes on their website to point you in the right direction.
And I need to say that Byron Parsons loves his product and it shows. Even if you don’t really like the smoky taste he will make you doubt your taste buds
So, I suggest you get off your couch potato arse and get in touch with Smoked Potjie – simply because every piece of meat sometimes needs a little smoke.
